My name is Roberto Santacruz, I am from Ecuador, I am an Aquaculture Specialist with several years of work experience in the aquaculture sector (both field & research) in my home country, and I am taking the liberty of posting this ad as I am currently searching for new professional challenges and I am willing to relocate abroad and I would like to have an opportunity to work in the Vietnamese Aquaculture Industry.
Academically, I have an undergraduate degree in Aquaculture Engineering (Ecuador, 1999), and I hold an Aquaculture Specialist degree and a MSc degree in Aquaculture granted by the Ghent University (Belgium, 2002). Furthermore, I have attended a Specialist's Training course in Molluscs Culture (Chile, Jan 2004) with Japanese instructors where I got excellent technical skills for the culture and the hatchery production of molluscs (oysters, scallops, clams, abalone, etc.) and I attended a Postgraduate course on Microbial Ecology (Chile, Dec 2003) where I updated both my knowledge in molecular biology & biotechnology, and my skills in the use of molecular tools.
As to my work experience, I have field/work experience in shrimp (L. vannamei), fish and moluscs culture, shrimp hatchery, analytical lab, as well as experience in aquaculture projects (research and sustainable management).
Currently I am working as an Aquaculture Consultant in extensive & intensive/high density shrimp farming (culturing Litopenaeus vannamei with the use of low salinity water & freshwater and with green house covered ponds--producing 8-10 ton/ha/cycle), and as a Researcher for the Technical University of Machala (Ecuador) in a research project dealing with nutritional aspects of shrimp culture and with microbial ecology of aquaculture ponds.
I am qualified to undertake a wide variety of projects including R&D, hatchery, nursery and/or intensive pond management/culture of fish, crustaceans or molluscs, since my past/present work experience, academic background –including the design of aquaculture facilities (farms & hatcheries), fish/shrimp/molluscs larviculture & culture, fish/shrimp nutrition (energy partitioning, fish bioenergetics, feed formulation, etc.), aquaculture diseases management, recirculation aquaculture systems (system design, analysis, engineering and management), environmental impacts of aquaculture, integrated aquaculture, among others– and university based research projects have prepared me excellently for commercial production and/or experimental work in aquaculture.
