More seafood plants to meet international food safety and hygiene standards in 2007

In 2008, Naviqaved will reinforce inspection to processing plants, strictly penalize plants which violate food safety and hygiene requirements.

According to the report from National Fisheries Quality Assurance and Veterinary Directorate (Nafiqaved), only some more new seafood processing plants are opened in 2007 but the list of facilities meeting food safety and hygiene standards in conformity with international requirements is longer remarkably, especially enterprises export their products to Canada, EU, and US markets.

In general, these approved facilities ensure to maintain good conditions in workshops, of machines and equipments as well as in product quality management.

A glut of enterprises keep investing in upgrading machines and equipments, diversifying products, making contribution to push up the value of exports of the industry. In 2007, there are 245 facilities approved to export to EU; 343 to South Korea, 370 to US, 216 to Canada, 338 to China and 24 to Russia.

In 2008, Naviqaved will reinforce inspection to processing plants, strictly penalize plants which violate food safety and hygiene requirements.
