Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, July 21, issued a decision to increase fuel aids for fishermen, owners of fishing boats and marine service providers. Specifically, each offshore fishing journey will receive VND1 million to VND2 million as financial assistance. The amount of money for fuel aids depends on the capacity of the ship, the more capacity, the more money will be given.

However, the requirements for fuel aids are rather strict. Fishermen eligible for financial assistance must be real owner of a fishing ship with legal registration, fulfill insurance policies of the state, have license to exploit marine resources and legal residence status.

Fishermen who have been granted aids according to Decision No.289/QĐ-TTg dated from March 18, 2008 will be also benefited from this program.

Fuel aids will be divided from provincial budgets, and from state’s budget in case of necessity.
