In June 2008, Vietnam exported 107,394 MT worth over USD 402 million. These figures are up 37.8% in volume and 20.8% in value. This month, EU still keeps its top position in seafood import from Vietnam while Russia showed strong growth in consuming Vietnam seafood. Sales to Russia in June increased over 1000% in volume and 466% in value in comparison with the same month last year, respectively 9,823 MT and USD 17 million. Pangasius (tra, basa) is the main product exported to Russia.
In Jan - June 2008, Vietnam exported 518,744 MT of seafood, valued at over USD 1.91 billion. Frozen shrimp took 32% in the total of seafood export value, pangasius 32% and cephalopod 7.5%.
