According to the management board of Mong Cai border-gate, Quang Ninh province, since the beginning of August, seafood export volume to China via this gate increased by 70 tons weekly, a twofold increase over June.
State media explained the rise in seafood export to northern neighbor was due to increasing demand during the Beijing 2008 Summer Games. High demand put selling price of fresh fish, garrupa, cobia, perch, bar-tail flathead fish and eel to raise from 10 to 15% in comparison over previous two months.
It is reported that seafood importers in China want to purchase more dry items, such as fish blader, shark’s fin and peaneaus. |
