In the coming time, An Giang southern province will invest nearly 111 billion (USD 6.5 million) on three fishery developing projects in the province.
The first project is building irrigational works serving for agriculture in regions belong Tien and Hau rivers. The irrigational works are built in districts An Phu, Tan Chau, Phu Tan and Cho Moi in the total area of 561 hectares. The total investment capital is VND 47.5 billion.
The second project is developing a model of shrimp and paddy cultivation in the area of 1,500 hectares in Thoai Son district with the total capital of over VND 51 billion. Besides, a hatchery in Chau Thanh district will be upgraded under the project.
The third project is supplying training courses on high quality fish farming and creating good breed for local fishers to develop marine culture.
Local authorities expected that these projects would contribute to boosting aquaculture in the province. In the first six months of 2008, farmed fish production of the province reached 207,000 MT, increasing twofold over the same period last year. |
