Currently, sales price of black tiger shrimp in Ca Mau is increasing by VND12,000-VND21,000 per kilo depending on size. Especially, large-sized black tiger shrimp, counted 20, see the highest increase, fetching at VND180,000 per kilo.

The main reason for the increase in shrimp sales price is that majority of shrimp farming area has been harvested, and shrimp farmers do not have much products left to sell.

Shrimp farmers are preparing ponds for new crop which starts in the end of lunar November, while some plan to stock new crop in paddle fields after finish rice harvest. Besides, some farmers are shifting to other species due to massive mortality of farmed shrimp.

The shrimp material shortage is predicted to continue in months to come. (VietFishNews)
