Ensuring seafood exports to Russia
(Vietfish International, 10-12/2007)
Since the late 2005, Russia has been one of Vietnam’s top five seafood export markets, accounting for 3.8 percent in value terms in 2006 and 5.2 percent in the first half of 2007. However along with the rapid increase in export volume and value, more and more barriers emerged, causing negative impacts on position and expansion of Vietnam seafood products in this market.

To solve the barriers set by Russia, NAFIQAVED, in one hand, works with VPSS to learn more about new regulations and requirements regarding control of quality, hygiene and food safety of seafood imported and faults committed by Vietnam seafood companies and cooperated with Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Physio-sanitary Surveillance (VPSS) inspectors in their three inspection tours of Pangasius farms and processing establishments.

On the other hand, besides strengthened checking and monitoring of production process, NAFIQAVED helped, instructed and urged seafood companies to comply with regulations on production conditions and granted certificates to companies which satisfy the standards on hygiene and food safety.
